PhD Studentships at York St. John University, UK.

Research PhD Studentships

The University invites applications for four competitively awarded fully-funded full time research studentships, to commence 1 October 2010.

Applicants must have (or be about to complete) a relevant degree (at least a 2:1 Honours or a Masters) and should submit a proposal that clearly demonstrates an aptitude for researching a specific topic covered by one of the following themes:

Film: Theory/Analysis/Production – Dr Robert Edgar-Hunt

Theatre and Performance: Theory/Analysis/Production/Reception – Dr Matthew Reason

Developing awareness of English as a Lingua Franca in TESOL – Dr Chris Hall

Creativity and Education – Dr Kathy Ring

Developing a client-informed counselling approach for victims of domestic violence – Dr Lynne Gabriel

The studentships will include the payment of all tuition fees and carry a bursary of £13,800 per annum. Studentships will be renewed annually, subject to suitable academic progress, for a maximum of 3 years.

Students will be provided with excellent facilities in the University’s new Graduate Centre located in the historic city of York. Research degrees are awarded by the University of Leeds.

    Notwithstanding the fact that English is an "imperialist" language, Mr Oettinger gives yet more publicity to the fact that English is not a practical proposition, as an international language.

    To my mind this is yet another compelling reason to seriously consider Esperanto :)
